About Jack Harmon...
Hello there, my name is Jack Harmon. Although, you probably already guessed that since my name is plastered all over this website, even above this paragraph. I am a graphic designer who has been developing my skills for over 8 years now, and would like to continue to expand my areas of expertise.
My passion for graphic design started when I was a freshman in high school and took my first graphic design class. I loved everything about the class: the way it was taught, how independent it was, and how I was able to express my creativity in my own way. I continued to take Graphic Arts classes throughout my years in high school, and in that time I used it to provide designs for my friends and family, and was even able to make some money with some freelance work.
Eventually came a time in my life where I needed to make a choice on what to study in college. After a few months of studying engineering at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology, I realized my passion was not engineering but design. To continue to pursue my love for graphic art and design, I transferred to Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois as a Graphic Design major. My time at Millikin has helped me immensely in becoming a professional graphic artist. While attending university, I have branched off from graphic design and taken some classes in photography, cinematography, 3D design, and even American Culture in Comic Books. My knowledge has expanded so much while in college, and I look forward to continuing to learn and to apply what I have learned.
Aside from Graphic Design, I enjoy movies, television programs, and browsing the internet. I wouldn't say I'm addicted to social media, but I do enjoy spending some time scrolling to relax for a short time. Video games are also a passion of mine, and I think it stems from my love for graphic design as well. Some games just have a certain design element or style that captivates me and I can't get enough of it. For example, the indie game "Cuphead" grabbed my attention once I saw it paid homage to old timey cartoons of the 20s and 30s and that really grasped my attention. During my schooling, I also enjoyed taking some weekends off from my work in college and driving over to my old college, Rose-Hulman, where I could spend time with some lifelong friends I made while I was there for only a few months. Now, we get together whenever our schedules align.
