An Example of My Process...

Below is an example of the process I go through for most of my projects, especially logo designs. To the right are images from a previous client commission that had a process like the one elaborated on below:

1. First, the client contacts me for a project. Some clients have a very good idea what they want and express that with a lot of details. Others have a general concept in mind, but don't have any concrete details and ideas, so we have to brainstorm a little in order to figure out the client's vision together. I've had a wide variety of clients who all have varying opinions, ideas, and concepts for their projects. No matter how much of an idea or concept you have you will not be a bother or unqualified, please reach out so we can make something together.

2. Once the client and I figure out what direction we should move forward in, I usually start with some hand-made sketches in a notebook to get my initial ideas and concepts into one place. After that, I take some of the strongest ideas and put them together in a few mock-ups, usually varying in color, theme, styling, sizing, etc. I then send these first rough drafts to the client to see their response.

3. After sending the initial concepts, the client will respond with feedback. Sometimes at this step, the client will say it's complete and will send me my payment right away. Others ask for some other drafts with slight modifications. Some have us go back to the start to make sure we both understand what the final product will look like. I've had a wide variety of clients, so don't feel like you're bothering me or being picky. I want what's best for you and your vision.

4. If a client doesn't want one of the rough drafts (which is common and understandable), I go back and make some changes/modifications per the client's request. I usually do a few different versions, some with my own spin, and see what the client likes. This step can repeat many, many times. Eventually, however, there will be a final result that both the client and I can be happy and proud of.

Clients usually pay me after a final composition is completed and sent via email, but some like to give me either half or full payment prior to any rough drafts are sent over. Whatever the client prefers is fine by me.

Remember, whatever you have as an idea to start is fine by me. If we need to brainstorm, let's do it. If you know exactly what you want, let's make that.

Revised Versions

The client liked the black and white negative space logo version, but wanted a little more. Specifically, they requested something below the logo in a black box. I ran a few ideas by the client and we ultimately settled on the final version below.
